We strive to create the next generation of elite members of the sport business world by bringing industry leaders to campus, hosting networking events, and visiting local sport organizations.
We aim to be a supplement to students classroom experiences by doing the following:
Our Alumni Database provides our members with over 350 names and contact information for Michigan Alumni working in the sports industry. Students are able to reach out to all of the people listed in this database to learn more about the industry. Additionally, each summer our Alumni Relations team puts together a Summer Networking Map that lists all of our SBA student members and our alumni so that students and alumni can connect with one another.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the database, please contact our Alumni Relations team.
We work to find internship postings to pass along to our SBA members. Furthermore, alumni and friends of the Michigan Sport Management Program send us information to give to our members about potential internship experiences. Students also network with one another to learn about their peers internship experiences.
We host several symposiums each year in which panelists receive resumes of the attendees and recruit through our events.
If you have an internship opportunity, please contact us.
Students and alumni can opt-in to our mentorship program in which students are paired with a Michigan alumni working in the sport industry. With a 1:1 ratio, students and their mentors are able to have meaningful relationships.
If you'd like to become a mentor, please contact our Alumni Relations team.
On campus we allow time at all of our events for our members to meet with and mingle with our speakers. We typically host networking events during our out-of-state trips in the respective cities (Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City). Additionally, we take our members to local Detroit sports team's playing facilities in which they are able to interact with executives there.
We want to make sure our members have a competitive edge when entering the sport industry. We conduct resume and cover letter reviews, email etiquette sessions, interview practice, and share some general tips and guidelines.
We at SBA know that experience is extremely valuable. Therefore, we are always encouraging our members and passing along information to our members about various volunteer opportunities within the Ann Arbor area, as well as across the nation.
